Lucky's July Issue: CoverGirl Promo Ad

Covergirl Promo Ad for new eyeshadow colors

I ran across this promo ad in July's issue of Lucky.  Covergirl featured this promo ad for their new Blast collection.  Bright, bold new shadows, in 23 bold new shades, to go with your big, bold, Lash Blast lashes.  This ad automatically grabbed my attention and jet setted my lemmings list!  The look above: Eye enhancers in Lime Alive, Gold Sizzle and Coral Jungle.  Some suggestions for MAC dups: CG Lime Alive = MAC Eyepopping (c-shock), CG Gold Sizzle - MAC Golden Lemon Pigment.

I purchased Covergirls Kaboom Kelly and Gold Sizzle a couple weeks ago.  And, was fairly disappointed in Gold Sizzle because the color pay-off just wasn't there.  But, the gorgeous quad below really has me second guessing.

Covergirl Summer Promo Ad for Summer Colors

Just look at that Tropical Fusion Quad - I love the bold bright colors Covergirl is starting to offer.  Take a second glance at the quad in the promo picture?  Look familiar?  It's our friendly neighbor, MAC.  Let's just say by looking at the promo pictures it looks dead on the c-shock collection from last summer.  Big Bang Blue, Big-T, Fab & Flash and Eyepopping.

Love this Quad?  Click here for a chance to win it this month!

These colors rock!!! I'm still in love with MAC's C-shock and I agree they look really close. It's great Covergirl are bringing these colors to their line!

I love this tropical quad, but, can't find it anywhere! I'm getting so frustrated!

Hi Angie, So sorry to hear that. Keep your eyes open, you never know. I really hate when cosmetics companies make products so high demand like this.

I heard Walgreens has it. You might want to try Target too.

I found them at wal mart last night. I was looking every where for them.

Me too, jaime! I always saw them at Target but they would be wiped out and I didn't want any of the colors left. Last time I was at Target, they didn't have ANY. But Wal*Mart had them :)

Yes, I'm going to have to find those colors. They just look sooo slick and sheer. Very clean.

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
