MAC Dame Edna Collection: Review, Swatches

MAC Dame Edna

Hallo Possums!" As mirthfully minx-like and tongue-in-chic as her dazzling persona, Dame Edna's eponymous limited-edition colour collection reveals the wit of her makeup passions...Like our muse, it's "spectacular"!

Overall, MAC releases yet another disappionting collection to close out the 2008 year.  Much better than the Chill collection, I think you'll find one or two worthwhile products to take home from this limited edition release espically if MAC's been burnin a hole in your pocket from these un-impressive collections.

The lipsticks were the obvious stand-outs.  Smooth, creamy and packed with loads of color.  Wisteria and Royal Tour eyeshadow quads were the most disappioning.  Both trios along with the Hi-light powders lacked good color pay-off and texture.

My Haul: Gladiola lipstick, Hot Frost lipglass and Varicose Violet nail polish.

MAC Dame Edna Eyesahdow Swatches

Wisteria and Royal Tour Eyeshadow Trios.

MAC Dame Edna Lipstick Swatches

Gladiole, Coral Polyp and Kango Rouge Lipstick.  Still debating whether to pick up Coral Polyp or not.  All lipsticks had fabulous color payoff.  You really can't go wrong picking up one or two.

MAC Dame Edna Lipglass Swatches

Hot Frost, Spendid and Possum Nose Pink lipglass.

MAC Dame Edna Powder Swatches

Spectacle and What a Dame Hi-Lite powders.  Took several swipes to achieve any kind of color pay-off.

MAC Dame Edna Nail Polish Swatches

While visiting the Mall, I was able to get a sneak peek at Dior's Spring 09 Polishes also.  So, make sure you check those out.

MAC's Vericose Violet is a semi sheer lilac purple with blue irisdescent shimmer.  Originally, I wasn't going to pick this up, but the MA's convinced me other wise after swatching.   Asiatique is your basic cherry red creme that's pretty standard and blah.  I'd say pass on that one.  Both shades are only available for a limited time.

I'll be posting Varicose Violet as one of my NOTD this week.  Stay tuned.

The Dame Edna collection is now available at MAC stores and online.

I ordered a couple things form this collection. Gladiola, Hot Frost, Splendid and Varicose Violet (which looks awesome on you). After seeing Temptalia's eye with The Royal Tour I want that set also! I am more excited about the "Blonde" collection coming out though. I do wish they would stop putting out so many and do maybe 8-10 a year instead, it's way too much!

Love love love your blog Steph! I just recently stumbled upon it when I googled Sally's new polish line. So far since purchasing my first bottle (comander in chic) I have returned to buy 5 more bottles... Seriously has to be the best new nail polish line out there. Top colors for me are Commander in Chic, Grey by Grey, Plum Luck, Lavender Cloud and Pat on The Black. At this speed I think Ill own them all by the end of the month! :)

I tried the "Thinking of Blue" color last night and was very impressed with the wide applicator brush. I actually like it better becuase it provides full coverage. The color is vibrant and funky. I absolutely love the shades. I think that this new line will give Opi a run for its money and I'm an avid Opi girl. However, change can be good. : )

I used to be a strictly OPI girl but when I went shopping for a new spring shade and the selection where I went was picked over I took a chance and tried this in Shell We Dance. The application was easy with the brush reminding me of the Pro Wide style OPI uses. Also the wear is very long lasting and keeps my super thin and brittle nails from breaking and peeling. At a few dollars more than OPI per bottle...I\'m sold!

I'm not gonna lie, right now i have over 15 different purples in my collection... i have a problem. This kind of reminds me of the Hot Topic purple! (which is in my top 3 favorite purples)
