Essie Summer 09 Nail Polish Collection

Essie Cute as a Button Summer collection

Essie's Summer collection, available June 1st, is created from soft to neutral colors you've seen on the fashion runway. The shades ranging from pinks, corals and neutrals.  Check out the color story below.

Fashion marches on in its homage to individuality, optimism & whimsy. Designers showcased their antidotes to reality with collections of wearable clothes with a unique twist. Tangy brights spiced up neutrals with a splash of youthful flair, silhouettes went slouch, the little pink dress replaced the little black dress and the shredded lace of the 80's are officially back!

Not Just a Pretty Face - This natural nude provides balance and beauty with a touch of comfort. It's a timeless classic that never goes out of style.

Chubby Cheeks - This rich sunset coral is summer captured in a flash. Versatile, sophisticated and bold, pair it with a smile and strike a pose.

Lovie Dovie - Pink lovers unite! Flattering and feminine, soft but vibrant, no one can resist falling in love with this true flamingo pink. Utterly romantic, it's the one.

Luscious Lips - Sweethear by day, vixen by night, this sultry pink transitions perfectly from work to after-hours. it's pretty in pink for all skin tones and a summer glow must-have.

Funny Face - Too pink or not too pink, that is the question. Worry no more and experience pink to the max with this provoicative fuchsia. Bright and gorgeous, it's fierce, fierce, fierce! The timid need not to apply.

Cute as a Button - A summer favorite, this juicy persimmon delight is teh feel good fantasy to our current reality. Indulge in some happy fun. You deserve it.

The Essie Summer Nail Polish collection is availalbe June 1st at Essie and fine spa's and retails for $8.00/ea.

Just when I thought Essie was changing their pink ways, I guess they didn't want to give up their pinks, huh? *goes crying in the corner*

Hi Steph, ULTA actually already has these since last week. I went there on Thursday and its set up with the last 2 collex essie released. Wanted to share for those who have a local ULTA available and want any of these before June 1st.

Now, as I've gotten more into polish, I've gotten over sheers and light pinks...a.k.a safe colors. But for some odd reason, I'm intrigued by some of the colors in this collection...could be because of some of the cute names or because though I like my fun colors, I'd still like to find that perfect nude and pink nail color that's just for me. =]

Hopefully, we have some surprises with this one. *hopes* Hi Kat, Awesome! Thanks so much for that info. What did you think of the new summer colors? Hi Outspokenwallflower, I'll admit, the promo picture looks rather blah to me, but hey, I'm optimistic and I'm sure Essie will pull through with one or two really great shades in this collection. I'm particularly excited to see some Coral's from Essie. They looked gorgeous with the Summer fashion lineup. :) Yes, I totally agree....we need a perfect nude :)

Ugh. What's going on Essie? You give us mesmerize, the neons, and the awesome north folk collection, and now you are back to your pinks and safe colors. Only the nude and coral mildly interest me. And what is persimmon? Isn't that an orange colored fruit?

"I'm wearing the Essie summer neutral nail polish, and would change tomorrow for the pink one. Been wearing neutral for a week now. Tomorrow, I'll go with the pink one, blending with my mac lipstick and makeup."

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on amazon.com.

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
