Nail Polish of the Day: Maybelline Purple Party

Maybelline Purple party nail polish

Purple glittery nail polish

Happy Wednesday! Hope you guys had a great memorial day weekend. Since it's been raining for the last several days, I've spent most of the weekend finishing up painting.

Purple Party, a dollar tree gem I picked up a while ago, described as a gorgeous magenta pink - purple jelly loaded down with silver and pink shimmer. This one applied pretty sheer, but it's definitely worth the four coat application.

Here's some more eye candy for ya. These are my past NOTD's from the weekend that I neglected to post.

Revlon Sweet Nothings Satin Sheets

When it comes to sheer's, I run away as far as possible...but I just can't help staying away from this one. Satin Sheets, a sheer white loaded down with gold/pink shimmer.

Chanel Vamp Le Vernis Nail Polish

Allure's June issue (pg 131) inspired this classic vampy shade from Chanel. Vamp, a dark blood red with shimmer. Have a wonderful day!

Hi steph! I love dollar stores. I found a great one if you're ever around Massuchussets, especially in the cape cod region(love it there in the summer. I miss it!)It's called ocean state job lot. You can get cover girl eyeshadows for a dollar! They have tons of nail polish, mostly revlon or maybeline's discontinued ones. They always have the same old pinks, but I always find "buried treasures" there. Like Revlon Khakizing(blue with green and purple duochrome!) Too bad I left wallet at home when I saw it there.

Purple Party looks fantastic! I was sorely disappointed with Vamp; when I was a nail newbie I didn't know that the new US Vamp wasn't the black-red that is now Rouge Noir.

I really like Satin Sheets. I usually don't care for this shade. That glitter is what really puts it over the edge. Just gorgeous.

Hi Lizzy, Oh no, you left your wallet at home! I love hunting Dollar Stores for unique colors :) Hi the Asian Girl, I totally know how you feel about the whole Vamp ordeal! It was disappionting :( Hi Lucy, I know! The glitter is the only thing that got me :) Hi Avroys, Isn't it the best! : Hi rmcandlelight, I rarely ever get lucky at Dollar Trees too! I'll pretty much faint, if they have anything other than Azia brand!

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on amazon.com.

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
