Pedi of the Day: Knockout's Ox with Polka Dots

Purple Matte Nail Polish

Hope your having a wonderful Thursday! Today's pedicure, one I featured last week, Knockout's new plummy purple matte, Ox. I gotta say, I'm really impressed with the wear on these babies.

Note: In the picture above, no topcoat was used. The sun along with my moisturizer gives the impression of a glossy look.

Last weekend, before my big painting extravaganza at the house, I applied one coat of Ox and didn't have the chance to finish up the second until today. And, the one coat wear was simply amazing. No chips nor imperfections. Very impressive - espically without a topcoat

Check out one more swatch below.

Knockout Ox Pedi with Polka Dots

This design is inspired from one of my favorite nail bloggers, Michelle. After seeing her matte and glossy nail art, I just had to try it. The look is very subtle and sleek. I really loved the combination together. You'll definitely see me sporting around more Matte and Glossy looks.

What I used: Knockout's Ox, CNY New York, New Year and a dotting tool for the polka dots. If you don't have any matte nail polish, invest in a topcoat that transforms all your polishes to matte. OPI, Orly and Knockout Cosmetics makes one.

Don't forget to enter the SH giveaway, winners will be announced next Friday. What do you guys think of the Matte and Glossy look? Have a wionderful day!

Your polka dots are always so pretty! I can never get mines to look good, even with my dotting tool. Can you do a tutorial one day? I love this matte pedi on you, looks great!

Love, love, love this technique! Going to get a matte top coat and try this with my next pedicure. Huge fan of subtle detail.

These new matte colors aren't so bad now that I've seen it as a pedi. It seems like it takes some time to get used to not having shine on the nail. I like this color on you.

I haven't tried the matte look. I think I love my nails with lots of shine...I do like the matte and glossy look together though. I have to give it a try :D

love love love this look!! So you used a matte (ox) for the bottom. But the top you used a glossy color...how did you get them to match exactly?

Hi Lauren, Hmm, I've never heard of the OPI Mattifying product? I know OPI makes a matte envy, but I'm not that's the same thing your talking about? Hi Valerie, You'll def have to try it! It's super cute in real life! Hi Lachelle, It just takes a little bit a practice! I've been meaning to do a tutorial for a while now. I'll def get one up in the next couple of weeks :) Thanks Pia! Thanks so much Christine :) Hi Denny, That's the type of comments I love to hear! Matte isn't bad at ALL! It just takes some time getting used to :)

Hi rmcandlelight, Definitely! I really prefered the combo verses matte alone :) Hi Summerlovin, It was basically by luck! :) I went to my np closet to find the closest possible thing to Ox, and even though CNY New York New Year had shimmer, you really couldn't tell. Your best bet is to get a matte topcoat and you can use the same color. Thanks so much Lucy! Thanks Darlene! You'll def have to try it :)

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on amazon.com.

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

Debra said, on May 26th, 2012 4:59 pm regarding Product Review: Red Carpet Manicure Pro Kit
I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
