Nail Polish of the Day: Orly Satin Royalty
Hope your having a wonderful Sunday! With the all Matte craziness we've been having lately, I wanted to pull out an oldie from Orly's Satin Hues line.
Satin Royalty is a pefect example of a matte nail polish with visible shimmer. A sheer, light purple with pink and blue shimmer. The application was more sheer than I like, but the end result is really pretty with four coats.
I'm not sure when Orly introduced Satin Hues, but it's been quite sometime. While this line isn't readily available, you could still find these discontinued gems at Dusty's, Ebay, or beauty stores that carries discontuned lines.
Let's talk about Matte vs. Satin - Is there a difference? Well, it really depends who you ask. To me, matte is satin. Anything with no gloss or shine, flat or satin looking is matte. Of course, some finishes may be more satin or flatte, but it all falls under the same category.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

That is really a pretty shade. Just love it. I got rid of all my old matte's a long time ago. Boy am I sorry that I did. I just used Orly Matte topcoat over DS Fantasy. I love it and can't wait for all the matte to start showing up for us to buy.

Matte is definitely less glossy (and completely flat) than satin, which is kind of btw flat and glossy.
I wish I could find these Orly Satins! Or at least a dusty in the DC/MD/VA area....

Hi Lucy,
Oh, no! Orly has some pretty spectacular colors in the Satin Hues line. There's so many I want, but can't find. :(
