Happy Friday Diva's! Here in the Kentucky/Ohio region we're being drenched by massive rain, so I hope you guys are keeping warm and dry today! To end this week on a good note, let's start with a nifty black glitter set from Icing.
I'm sure you've heard me talk about Icing quite a bit in the past, so for those who aren't familiar to the brand I wanted to do a quick little recap. For me, Icing is a Hit or Miss. A Hit: The color selection is absolutely fabulous - you'll find unique and unusual colors every time. A Miss: However, the application is the downside - more so the applications brush. And it probably just boils down to a fixable manufacturer defect. With all that being said, I continue to stalk my icing for rare and amazing colors!
The formula on these were a hit and miss like I mentioned above. Some colors applied perfectly, while others were a pain. Are you ready for some swatches?!
Check em' out!
Blackened Green was the color that hooked me, a semi sheer black with green glitter.
Blackened Blue is a black with blue glitter.
Blackened Gold was a bit thick and gloopy, a black with gold glitter.
Blackened Purple is a black with purple glitter.
Blackened Brown is a black with orange/brown glitter.
Overall, Good Collection. The formula is a tad sheerer than Milani's Black Magic Collection. I found the price of $16.00 for a set of five to be pricey, but if you take advantage of Buy One, Get One Half Off it's a good deal. And according to my bottles, Icing polishes are Big 3 Free.
Stayed tuned, I have another Icing Fall Set to post that's gorgeous! How do you feel about Icing's Polishes? Love them, Hate them? Have a wonderful Friday!

I bought this but I am returning it today because I didn't realize how close these were to Milani's Black Magic collection and $16 is a bit high for something I kind of already have. But I am going to see if they have something else!

Hi Nessa,
Yeah, they are def similar and Milani's formula and application is much better! :) Check out out the set with the teal color, it's a good one!

all of those are gorgeous! i'm particularly in love with blackened purple... probably because it reminds me of milani whimsical (which, sadly, i never found).

Hi Keerthamina,
This collection is a great alternative for Milani's! :)

I have picked these up TWICE now to get and the price tag has always made me put them back, because like you said, they are so hit or miss. Plus the bottles were tiny. After seeing them on your nails though, I really like them and now may go get them...heheh :)

Hi Brookiebaby0506,
LOL! I've done that many times too! If you have Milani's Black Magic Collection you can pass, but if you don't, go for it :)

I'm loving these. Can't get Icing here in New Zealand of course, so I might have to stalk eBay!

Hi ya, dear Steph!
I <3 your web-site!
I was wondering if Icing polishes contain formaldehydes and toluene?
I'm sure many people want to know if the nail polishes you're "swatching" contain those materials.
May I ask you to mention this info somewhere? (Like a note at the end of the post: "Yes, contains" or "No, formadehyde & toluene free."?)
Pretty please? I'd greatly appreciate this!

Hi Pobeda,
Sure, no problem! I usually include that information at the end of my post, but often forget! According to my bottle, yes Icing polishes are Big 3 Free! :)

Thank you Steph, (and kudos to Pobeda for asking!) for telling us the "big three" story for these polishes. That is something that makes or breaks a purchase for me. Also Steph, I wanted to thank you for mentioning where Icing polishes are available- everyone talks about them, but no one says where they're from- so I always just figured that they were a coastal thing, but now I know that I can hit up the Claire's and go crazy! I honestly didn't know Claire's carried nail polish- I thought they were just (clothing type) accessories-Thank you, thank you, thank you!
