Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2010

Product: Rescue Beauty Lounge, Nail Lacquer .5 oz
Retail Price: $18.00/ea
Steph's Rating: 3.8 Kisses
Buy it: Pre- order Mid April
Big 3 Free: Yes!

For Spring '10 Nail Colors, Rescue Beauty Lounge hangs ten with Proenza Schouler's cool surfer girls.

A perfect addition to your wardrobe, Rescue Beauty Lounge's Surfer Girl Collection. Inspired by the laid back brights of Proenza Schouler's surfer influenced Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear show. 360, Diddy Mow and Bangin' are three bodacious colors that's a refreshing change from the floral pastels we've seen this season.

Ji says "There was a sense that they'd just put down their surferboards and slipped on their runway dresses, with minimal makeup and salt styled beach hair. What I loved about the show is the cool, breezy attitude of the models and the clothes."

A side note before we get to the goodies, since the press samples I received are not in the RBL formula, I can't really comment on application. Check out the swatches!

Rescue Beauty Lounge 360 Nail Polish

360 refers to a move where the surfer and board spin 360 degrees on the face of a wave. A dusty or slate blue with hidden shimmer just like Diddy Mow. It leans towards a faint teal, but not as dark as most brands out there.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Diddy Mow Nail Polish

When army green meets gray you get a spectacular color like Diddy Mow. If you're not familiar with the word, Diddy Mow is a surfer term used for a harsh wipe-out. Ji Baek describes as "the color of sand through sea water, the moment you eat it!" There is nothing like this, it's so fab!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Bangin Nail Polish

Bangin' is a bright red-orange coral creme. It's a great red to sport this summer with a tan and sun washed highlights.

Check out a video recap with additional swatches from the Surfer Girl Collection.

To view in HD, make sure you change the resolution to 720p or 1080p in the bottom right hand corner of the YouTube player.

The Surfer Collection is a limited edition release and all pre-order quantities have sold out completely, can you believe it? The good news, Ji put in an emergency order and they should arrive around Mid April. Don't miss out on these gorgeous shades, they will sell out again.

What do you think about this collection? Are you feeling the surfer vibe? Have a wonderful night!

I just love this collection, every single one, and that doesn't happen to me often! 360 and Diddy Mow makes me especially weak... But unfortunately, the price with shipping to Sweden is just too much even for me. I'll now go sit in a corner and weep. :)

I absolutely love the entire collection! But I never have luck with RBL. They always chip right away and that shouldn't happen with such expensive polish!

I really like the look of the blue one, “360.” So unique! The green one reminds me of mildew…

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
