Grab your sunglasses and get ready to dip into the summer with a collection of intensely-bright colors from China Glaze.
Poolside welcomes six hot neons perfect for that manicure or pedicure. With the exception of Towel Boy Toy, each color has a bold, florescent effect sure to get you noticed this summer. Since neons are known for a tedious application, below are some tips that helped me along the way.
- Make sure you have plenty of free time on your hands. Like most neon polishes, these tend to apply thin and translucent after the first layer with buildable coverage. Don't forget; let each coat dry completely before re-applying to avoid bald spots or streaking.
- For a quick on-the-go mani, try layering over white nail polish to avoid extended drying times. Just keep in mind when using a stark white base, the overall color may be brighter. It's great way to bring neons to life.
- Neons usually dry to a matte or satin texture. If you desire a glossy shine, make sure you finish with a top coat.
- Dress up your nails with instant bling, top China Glaze Medallion over any color. You really can't go wrong with Medallion; it's a staple in my collection!
Check out the swatches.
Pool Party is a bright hot pink neon. I love that it's a bit more red toned compared to other neon pinks on the market.
Towel Boy Toy is a sky blue with subtle shimmer. It's bright but not in a shocking way and very wearable. A great color even if you're not a fan of neons.
Kiwi Cool-Ada is the green I chose for St. Patrick's Day. It's a bright, medium green neon.
You can count on Flip Flop Fantasy being on my tootsies the whole summer. It's a super-bright coral pink that's so awesome! I don't have anything like this. And polka dots are so, so cute!
Compared to Hot Topic's Marigold, Sun Worshiper was a dream to apply. It's a bright neon orange.
Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is a highlighter yellow neon and of course, polka dots using Pool Party.
Check out additional swatches in a slideshow below.
Overall, a fun collection for summer! Some of my favorites are Flip Flop Fantasy, Towel Boy Toy, Pool Party, Sun Worshiper... heck, pretty much all of them!
Poolside will be available beginning April 1st at e-tailers. What are your favorites? How do you guys feel about neon polishes?

When neon polishes first came on the scene, I wasn't a fan at all. But then I tried one (it was a hot pink from Essie) and I was sold. Not only was it super fun to wear, but even in the shade, my nails seemed to glow (and I loved that). I actually wear neon polish anytime of the year (not just the summer) because it really cheers me up.

Wow, the colors just jump out toward me from the screen! I can't wait to actually see some in real life on my own nails. Have you worn any of these bright colors to a fun event yet? Gotten any feedback?

I like bright neon colors, but have been afraid to wear them on the nails, but this year might be the year to go for it. All the colors look wonderful. Towel Boy Toy would be a great one to start with. Plus it has a hint of shimmer...sold! Thanks for the swatches :).

I am not a giant fan of neons but I'm kinda liking that bright coral one! Neon's were way more huge last summer, like in the Essie neons, which I actually reviewed on my blog! Fab swatches!
