Chanel officially kicks off Summer with a free spirited makeup collection inspired by an idyllic seaside vista. Les Pop Up De Chanel welcomes bright, bold, vibrant colour with three new limited edition shades including the highly anticipated, Nouvelle Vague. A dreamy turquoise shimmer following up from the blockbuster hit, Jade.
Take a peek at the swatches below.
Mistral is a squishy, jelly-ish pink with a sweet surprise of micro glitter. On the nail, it's soft and feminine with the "secret" glitter being very faint, almost non existent to the eye. Since it applied thin and semi sheer, three coats were used to cover up my nail line.
After the huge success of Jade last year, I had high expectations for her bluer companion Nouvelle Vague (new wave). It's a pastel turquoise blue with very subtle silver shimmer. With the unique factor and price tag put aside, this is a great color for Chanelie fans.
Check out a blue comparison below.
The hidden shimmer in Nouvelle Vague sets this apart from most turquoise blues in my collection. If you're looking for an exact match to the base color, Orly's Gumdrop is a winner and China Glaze's For Audrey is a close second.
Riviera - is a deep, hot pink creme. It's bright, but not to overly and a little bit darkened compared to the traditional hot pink. And not to mention, the application was next to flawless despite the thin formula.
Overall, Nouvelle Vague is the clear winner from the Summer Collection. For a budget savy alternative, shoot for Orly Gumdrop or China Glaze For Audrey - both are great substitutes. In fact, For Audrey falls on my top 10 all time favorites list! Riviera and Mistral are nice, very feminine and ladylike if you love pinks.
Did anyone pickup Mistral, Riviera or Nouvelle? What's your favorite from the collection? Have a wonderful morning!

I simply could not resist - I purchased all three - I've loved Chanel polishes since my early 20s! I justify it by it's my one vice - lol and I don't spend my money on other extravagances - I know and I still sometimes feel guilty!

I picked up Nouvelle Vague from this collection. My local Chanel counter didn\'t have it. I had to have them do an inner store shipping kind of them. I just had to pay for the polish and they shipped it right to my house free of shipping cost. It was nice since the nears Chanel counter from that on was about 45 mins away. lol :D

I really like the Riviera color, and have always had a weakness for hot pink polish. Your comment on the thin formula has me wondering what you do when polish becomes too thick. I have a favorite polish that needs thinning...
Thanks Steph !

Just pop it in the fridge for a few hours and it'll be good as new :)! Also, with some of my less expensive nail polishes, I sometimes put a few drops of nail polish remover in the bottle and then shake it really well.

It wasn't an expensive polish, but I love the color and still want to use it... (Avon, "Feisty" is the polish)
I will give that a try, Thanks!!!

Hi Jeff,
I wouldn't recommend remover to thin your nail polishes out.. Definitely opt for a "thinner" (Seche Restore, Beauty Secrets, etc). I've ruined many beloved polishes in the past with a regular remover.
Also, storing your polish in the fridge may help the consistency at first... But the temperature change may cause your manicure to bubble in the long run! I've had better luck storing mine in a dry area (no moisture) at room temperature! :)

Thanks so much Steph, I didn't realize that I was actually ruining my nail polishes by putting them in the fridge! Kudos to you for saving my Chanel nail polishes from dreaded bubbling :)!
On another note, I purchased NV yesterday, but I haven't gotten the chance to wear it yet. I'm going to wear it for a summer party that I am attending on Thursday (it matches my bag haha). I can't wait!

All of these are gorgeous but I'm really pining after Nouvelle Vague...and I'll be stopping by Sally Beauty for the dupes that you posted. Thank you :)
