Deborah Lippmann Summer 2010 Collection

Deborah Lippmann Supermodel

Deborah Lippmann Summer 2010

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Today I have two new colors from Deborah Lippmann's summer collection. Supermodel, a modern sheer-ish red orange created with Dree Hemingway and Between the Sheets, a tantalizing fuchsia creme.

After hearing Supermodel was a sheer polish, I had my doubts. Because let's face it, most of us aren't sheer kind-of-girls. BUT this one is love for me! Created with supermodel Dree Hemingway, it's a glossy, coral-y red orange jelly.

In my swatch above I used Nailtek Foundation II as my base coat along with three coats of Supermodel, and it actually has decent coverage for a sheer, not complete-- you can see my nail line peaking out just a bit.

Keepin' it on the real:  Supermodel is intended to be a sheer jelly nail polish. If you're looking for something that's totally opaque, this may not be for you.

Debroah Lippmann Between the Sheets

Deborah Lippmann Summer 2010

After tweaking in Photoshop and literally taking a billion photographs, Between the Sheets would not cooperate with my digital cameraIt's a fuchsia creme that applied perfectly in two coats (don't mind the misprint above). What you can't see in my swatches is the magenta undertones. It falls more on the purple scale of fuchsia.

Overall, nice colors for summer! Between the Sheets may not be on the unique list, but it's a great fuchsia pink with a dash of purple. Supermodel wins me over with its light and airy glossy formula perfect for a day at the beach or pool.

The summer colors are available for purchase from Deborah Lippmann and/or Nordstrom. They retail for $16.00/ea. What do you think of Between the Sheets and Supermodel? Are you a Jelly fan? Have a wonderful evening!

Oh Thanks for the swatches! I was curious about them, so this is really helpful. I love jellies, they are my favorite finish. Lippman makes great jellies, I have Rehab and Call me Irresponsible and i love them. Im going to get Supermodel beacuse i dont have a color like that. Thanks!

It's so frustrating when colours won't photograph correctly isn't it... These are fantastic, bright summer colours

I'm going for the Supermodel. I haven't tried Lippmann's jellies yet, but from what I've read they're fab. Supermodel looks super juicy for a summertime color. Thanks for the swatch.

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on amazon.com.

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
