Happy New Year: My Top 50 Polishes of 2010

Forever 21 Golden Gray Nail Polish

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday! For me, 2010 was one of the worst years personally and business wise that I can remember, so I couldn't be happier to bury 2010 for good and start fresh in 2011! RIP 2010!

First off, I want to thank all my lovely readers for sticking with me through these rough times - it only gets better from here. Love Y'all!

December marked the month of my 3 year blogging anniversary (woot, woot!) on Steph's Closet, and since it was such a hectic month, I'll be celebrating with lots of cool giveaways towards the end of January.

What's to come in 2011? Fun, Fun, things! Launching on February 1st is my new video series, which I'll be bringing you a video 2-3 times a month starting with my most requested video, How I Paint My Nails along with Nail Art tutorials. Another resolution I'm aiming for is blogging at least 4-5 times a week.

Quick Review & Swatches. Through the month of January and February I'll be catching up on posts from Fall and Holiday Collections that I haven't had a chance to post yet. More swatches and less commentary! I know you guys love that!

As a tradition with most Bloggers, here is my list of 50 favorites from 2010. My list includes polishes that were released in 2010 only and not in a previous year or new 2011 releases. I hope you enjoy!

Hey Steph! Love your blog - your reviews and pics are consistently great! Sorry that 2010 was not a great year for you - out with the old and in with the new! :)

Personally, I made a New Year's resolution to wear MU at least 5 days per week. Sounds kinda dumb, maybe, but I have a HUGE MU collection but more than half the time over the past several months I haven't been wearing any MU at all! How ridiculous is that?! So I'm gonna use it! I always feel "better" - prettier, more confident, etc. - when my face (and nails) are "on", anyway, and what girl can't use a boost to the ol' self-esteem, right?

Cheers to you in 2011! XOXO

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
