Barry M Instant Nail Effects in Blue Print

Barry M Blue Print over Black

Barry M Nail Effects in Blue

When I posted Who Has The Best Crackle, China Glaze Crackle Glaze was the first choice among my readers who voted, but my personal favorite and following right behind, Barry M for their unique crackle. This Spring/Summer they've added three new colors to the Instant Nail Effects family - Pink Fizz, Blue Print and White Frost.

Blue Print is a cornflower blue crackle polish, and it's certainly one the most unique colors I've seen since the crackle phenomenon hit this year, aside from the standard shades. Maybe it's too early to tell, but I'm not completely head over heels in love yet. And I think it's just a matter of finding that perfect combination because it's not as bold or versatile as the black.

Application and Formula. Good pigmentation. Nice smooth formula. Dries to a matte finish just like Black Magic. A quick recap if you're new to the crackle trend - thin coats equal a straight linear crackle like above, and thick coats deliver more of a scattered crackle like below. Finish with a glossy top coat for shine. You all know this, right?

Barry M Blue Print over Multi Colors

Here are some different color combinations with Blue Print. The pink and yellow would be great pedicure colors for summer. I'm also digging the red. Which color(s) do you like? Do you have any color combo suggestions?

Barry M Cosmetics is a UK based company, but they do ship to countries all over the world including the US. The retail price is $6.45 (USD), and you can purchase Blue Print Instant Effects online at I've also had success ordering from ebay with reasonable shipping costs.

What do you think of this cornflower blue crackle? Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

I like Blue Print over black. It's a very pretty shade of blue.

Hi Steph,
Love your blog. You wrote: Always wrap the free edge or tip throughout each step. I didn't see this step in the video. Could you please explain how to do the wrap process and with what material. Thank you.

I am wondering if these gel polishes can be used with other gels. I have a different system with a different brand of base coat and top coat, can the different brands of gel mix?

I've had my kit for a couple of months now and love the way it lasts; but the Structure and Brilliance brushes are starting to stiffen and so is the gel in the bottles. Anyone else having that issue? Is there a way to thin them out?

Hi, does anyone know if I can thin out the red carpet base coat so that it is easier to apply?

Hi Prinzy,
It was a gorgeous color! I remember picking up a few bottles because I loved the color so much! lol! Actually, yes, I'm launching a store in the next couple of weeks. I have everything built, I'm just working on the Terms and Conditions right now, so it should be very, very soon.

I only have about 10 Studio M colors in the store currently, but I will be taking special pre-orders once it opens.

Hi Sarah,
I'm not sure about retail stores, but you can still find them on

Can I still buy them in the stores now?

I've been playing with this system for about a month now. I love it! When I first started I used the clear just so I could get a feel for it. Then I got adventurous and tried a "sandwich" with a China Glaze color. It probably would have stayed on longer if I had been able to seal off the edges, but my nails were so short it was a bit difficult. The next time I used RCM gel polish in Simply Stunning (a pale slightly shimmery nude color). This time I had gotten enough practice to really make my coats thin and it worked out fabulous. I'm trying to send all my friends the Ulta 20% coupon (5/26 is the last day) so they can get a kit for about $64. :) Now I hope to get a little creative with color combos and nail design. Thanks for the review.
