Fall 2011: Chanel Peridot Le Vernis
The Illusions D'Ombres De Chanel Collection introduces three molten metal metallics for Fall 2011. Quartz - a silver beige, Graphite - a metallic silver and Peridot - a green gold. Today I have the gorgeous multichromatic Peridot to share with you.
Just like the precious gemstone it was inspired from, Peridot has a very unique color ranging from yellow to yellow-green and olive green to brown. In bright sunlight, it's a super charged gold-bronze metallic with a subtle green-blue duochrome that wraps around the edge of the nail. It also has the ability to switch up to a gold with a slight lime green tint, like my swatches show above.
Application & Formula. As far as finish, I would describe Perdiot as the middle child between Graphite and Quartz. It's a step below shimmer and a step above frost with more of a foil texture. You can easily get by with two coats for full coverage, but most of my swatches were applied with three layers to even out the frostiness of Peridot, which dries nicely once it's said and done.
Now I present the duochrome side of Peridot. It's a subtle effect, but if you angle your hand under the right lighting, you'll catch a glimpse of the green-blue and gold split personalities. It's certainly not as strong as the bottle color, but it does exist!
Overall - I'm a fan! If you're a lover of gold/green polishes, Peridot is definitely worth the splurge. However, I can see how this might clash with cooler skin tones. But as I always like to say, if you like it, wear it! The formula & application was nice considering it applies like a frost.
Peridot is a limited edition color from Chanel. The retail cost is $25.00 (0.4 oz) and is available at Chanel.com, Chanel Counters, Neiman Marcus and Nordstom.
What do you think of Chanel's newest shade? Did you pick up any colors from the Fall 2011 collection? I plan to dedicate a whole post to comparisons, so stay tuned!

Oooh, that's a toughie! I just compared them side by side using my "compare" feature in the photo gallery, and although they are not 100% dupes, I can see a slight similarity. I would say it's definiltey a personal preference. Peridot has a stronger green presence and Sea How Far You Go has a gray. Try comparing them both using my new feature, and let me know what you think? :)
