This is an official statement from Patrick Swayze's rep.
"Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
The NY Post reported he was diagnosed more than a month ago and may only have five weeks to live.
"All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue," Fisher said. "We are considerably more optimistic."
The actor is best known for his unforgettable roles in Dirty Dancing, Ghost and Roadhouse.
Today, I read in the National Enquirier that he has only five weeks to live, which is completely false. But, his rep has confirmed he has cancer, which, is so sad. But, I'm very optimistic, and wish him and his family all the best during this most difficult time.
