Color Club
Spring 09: Color Club Femme Fatale
Color Club Springs forward this season with two new collections, Femme Fatale and Catwalk Queen. Each release consists of six new shades of holographic and pearlized textures. First up is the Femme Fatale collection.
Ooh, la, la...Femme Fatale is a mysterious women of great seductive charm that lives life dangerously.
Color Club gave us all a reason to look forward to spring by introducing new Holoographic shades to the line! And, what gal doesn't love sport around holo's.
Check out all the swatches below.
Worth the Risque is a silver holographic shade that applied perfectly in two coats. Wow, gorgeous, speechless! The pictures pretty much justify the gorgeousness of this stunner.
As you can see in the photo comparisons that Worth the Risque texture is completely different from Diamond and OMG. A def must have!
Revvvolution is a black hologrpahic shade that applied perfectly in two coats. Another break-taking shade. Wow, amazing!
Revvvolution's coverage is just amazing compared to OPI's MPJ.
Oui Oui Oui is a sheer white pearlized iridescent that has greenish shimmer that needs three full coats to achieve the bottle color.
Femme Fatale is a clear base loaded with pinkish shimmer.
Ooooo La La is a white pearl that needs a good three coats for bottle color. My swatches could have used an additional coat to even out everything.
Where's the Soiree, the outcast of the group, is a black creme that dried watery to a satin like finish.
The Femme Fatale collection is now available at Head2toe and retails for $2.50/ea.

Color Club Catwalk Queen Spring Collection
Color Club's, Catwalk Queen is the second installment to the Spring 2009 collection.
Just like the Femme Fatale, in this release we see pearlized textures, gorgeous holographic and glitters.
Let the world be your runway this Spring as Club Color introduces six new runway approved shades.
The sheer iridescent textues look much better topped over a complimentary base color or just a simple black shade. Check out some swatches Scrangie used with black.
Some of my favorites: Catwalk Queen, Fashion Addict and Vintage Couture. The holo's from both spring collections are absolute must haves.
Check out all the swatches below.
Front Row Diva is a dove white gray pearl iridescent that needs a good three coats to even out the streaks.
Runway Muse is a sheer teal based with pink, teal, silver shimmer. All different kinds of colors in this one. Although, you'll definitely want to start with a colored base coat because it's pretty sheer.
Ready to Wear is a sheer light pink base with pink shimmer.
Fashion Addict is another fantastic holo from Color Club, a light pink silver holo.
Vintage Couture is a milky pastel pink creme.
Catwalk Queen is a vampy plum purple with shimmer that's very pretty.
The Catwalk Queen is available at Head2Toe and retails for $2.50/ea.

Nail Polish of the Day: OPI DS Desire
Happy Hump day ya'll! Today I'm bringing you a lovely holographic shade I picked up from Trade Secret not too long ago. Desire, described as a golden brown holo that applied perfectly with three coats.
Quite honestly, I think holographic textures are the best thing to hit the nail polish industry. Being infatuated with holo's, it's no suprise I fell head over heels with the entire Designer Series line.
The DS line offers a rainbow of colors to choose from and retail around $12.95/ea or $6.95 at etailers or discount beauty stores. Often you can find discontinued DS colors at Trade Secret up to 70% savings.
And, some more nail candy for your viewing pleasures.
DS Couture - peachy pink holographic (more peachy than pink).
DS Fantasy - a bold, gorgeous royal blue holographic.
DS Exclusive - a berry pink holographic.
Hope your having a wonderful Wednesday! I have mass swatches to show you guys this week and next - Claire's holo neons, Essie Summer, China Glaze, Massini neons, Orly Tiki, Color Club neon, SH Tracy Reese Spring, Zoya! Shoo wee!

Claires Neon Holos: Nail Polish Swatches
Hope your having a wonderful Saturday. Summer is slowly creeping around the corner and you guys know what that means, Bright Neon Colors! Yep, the brights are back and I have tons of eye catching shades to show you.
To kick off this festive summer trend, I wanted to start with my favorites from Clarie's. One thing I love about Claire's Neons, well two things: Each shade has a holographic glitter effect and most colors aren't as bright as your typical neons, for example: Color Club's Electro Candy, which I'll be previewing next week.
Each shade is infused with a mild holographic glitter effect and dries to a semi gritty matte finish. Now, it's not as gritty as a full fledged glitter nail polish. I don't think you should have any worries with that.
Jen Jen (above) - a yellow green (lime) with holographic glitter. Jen Jen and Lime Shine were the ones that took a four coat application to achieve the bottle color.
Lime Shine - a bright neon green with holographic glitter.
Juluis - a bright neon orange with holographic glitter.
Yel - one of my faves, a little bit more green than the actual swatch, aqua blue with holographic glitter.
Pink Rose - a light pink rose with holographic glitter.
Meg Peg - one of my faves, gorgeous magenta purple with holographic glitter
Flame - bright reddish coral with holographic glitter.
LuLu Belle - a bright hot pink neon with holographic glitter.
The brighter neon colors for the brave: Lime Shine, Juluis, Lulu Belle, and the not so bright for anyone: Flame (kinda bright but not overly), Meg Peg, Pink Rose, Yel and Jen Jen.
These are available at Claries and retail for $3.50/ea. What your guys take on Neons? I'll wear anything, of course! Have a wonderful Saturday!

NOTD: Color Club Revvvolution, Electro Candy
Happy Monday, Ya'll! Did you guys miss me? Last Thursday, I took a mini girls weekend trip to Gatlinburg, TN and was hoping to get my NOTD and POTD up, but as you can see that didn't happen.
Color Club's Revvvolution is one of my favorite holo's from the Femme Fatale collection. The color pay-off is incredible with only two coats needed.
Check out my pedicure below.
My pedicure is Color Club's Electro Candy with black polka dots from the Neon collection. I haven't had a chance to post yet the Neon collection yet, I'm hoping to get to that today after I get caught up with all my emails and comments.
Disclaimer: Neons polishes are much brighter than the actual swatch and looks great on toes. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Summer Neons: Color Club Electro Candy
This Summer, Color Club introduces High definition electrifying neon colors sure to grab your attention.
Electro Candy is the newest collection of high-quality lacquers in heart-racing high-voltage shades with hints of shimmer.
Lately, Color Club has really been impressing me! First it was the fabulous holographic colors from Femme Fatale and Catwalk Queen spring collections. Now, a spin on their neons with a hint shimmer that I'm totally digging.
Sure, neons aren't for everyone, but they sure are fun for summer and make excellent pedicure colors for those tootsies!
First, for the Disclaimer: Neons never photograph properly and are about five times brighter than my actual swatches. Most colors needed three coats and dried to a satin matte texture. I skipped Color Club's vivid topcoat because it wasn't a fast drying formula.
On to the swatches.
Volts of Light - neon yellow with bright green shimmer.
What a Shock - neon green with bright blue shimmer.
Electro Candy - neon pink with bright green shimmer.
Tangerine Dream - neon orange with bright green shimmer.
Ultra Violet - violet purple with bright green shimmer.
Pure Energy - turquoise blue with bright blue shimmer.
The Electro Candy collection is now available at Head2Toe and Transdesign and retails for $2.99/ea.

Earth Day Mani: Color Club Wild Child
Happy Earth Day ya'll! Hopefully you guys were able to take advantage of Butter London's free nail polish promo going on today. Due to the mass volume of traffic, the site was down for a little while, but eventually came back up.
With summer creeping around the corner, I wanted to sport one of my favorite green neons for the occasion.
Color Club's Wild Child, is a bright neon green that you've probably seen Rihanna sporting around. Not like your typical neon polish, Wild Child dried to a shiny finish with only three coats needed.
Hope everyone's having a fabulous Tuesday!

Nail Polish of the Day: Massini Fashion Addict
Hope your having a fabulous Sunday! This weekend has just been beautiful with temperatures reaching almost 90 degrees. And, for the first time in four years, I'm sick with a severe head cold.
To cheer me up, I wanted to put on a brand new color from Massini. Fashion Addict is a light pink purple holographic that has every resemblance to Color Club's version, including the name.
This is pretty much the same color as Color Club's. Massini is manufactured by Forsythe, the same company as CC. Chances are, if you love Color Club's nail polishes, you'll surely love Massini's brand.
Massini nail polishes are pretty awesome. Averaging a huge .6 oz a bottle and retailing $2.99 is quite a steal! The only problem, Massini is only available at Meijer stores. I'll be posting some neons and glitters soon.
Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon!

Nail Polish of the Day: Dior Purple Candy
I want Candy... Introducing Dior's newest vernis addition, Purple Candy. Part of the Summer 09 Cristal Collection, is a magenta pink with a splash of violet undertones that has very subtle shimmer. The shimmer is so subtle in this one, I'd be more comfortable grouping this as a creme.
Overall, Purple Candy is a little more "pinkish" than I imagined, but a nice universal color all around. And, not to mention the fantastic application. The high shine formula is excellent and applied smooth as butter like most Dior nail polishes. Perfecto formula wise.
My swatches were used with three coats except on my pinky finger, which was with two. Purple Candy is definitley a two coater. Even with three coats, the color pretty much stayed the same.
One more swatch below.
Just to give you an idea where Purple Candy falls, I paired up with my pedi using Color Club's Electro Candy. I haven't attempted to look at my comparisons, but I'd say there's a few alternatives to Purple Candy.
Just to clairfy, Dior's has a total of 5 summer nail polishes. Most of them being "pink toned" except Sweet Orange. Next week, I'll be posting all five.
Paprika (nordstrom exclusive), Grenade (macys exclusive), Sweet Orange (sephora exclusive), Purple Candy and Bubble Gum (dior counter) and retails for $20.00/ea. Have a great Wednesday!

Massini Glitter Nail Polish Swatches
It's Friidayyy TGIF!! Today I'm bringing you some glitters from Massini. Some of you may notice that Massini's nail polish names are exact replicas of Color Club's - it's because the same company manufactures for both brands. Chances are, Color Club may have the same shade if your having trouble locating Massini.
Sex Symbol (pic above) - clear base with silver glitter. CC dupe.
Gold Glitter - clear base with silver and gold glitter.
Sexy Siren - clear base with turquiose glitter. CC dupe.
Tru Passion - clear base with purple glitter. CC dupe.
Magic Attracton - clear base with pink and silver holographic glitter. CC dupe.
Drama Queen - clear base with red and silver glitter.
These next two shades are more like your standard nail polish textures compared to the glitters above. The opaqueness is amazing with only two coats, and by far my favorites from Massini. I don't think Color Color has dupes for these - truely unique.
Purple Medallion - purple base with silver, pink, purple, blue holographic glitter.
Slammin Red - red base with silver, pink, red holographic glitter.
Massini is only available at Meijer stores and retails for $2.99/ea. Hope your having an awesome day!

Fall Collection: Color Club Wild At Heart
Trust your impulses! Color Club introduces Wild at Heart, a Scintillating collection of high quality lacquers in the sexiest colors that go from Dark to Light and Dazzle with Seductive Sparkle.
Take a Walk on the Wild side with Color Club's newest fall release. A collection of holographic, shimmer and glitter polishes.
Season after season Color Club seems to impress and leaves me anxiously waiting for more. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it does! In Spring we saw an introduction to the fabulous holographic shades, Summer blew our socks off with electrifying neon nail candy and now, they totally nailed it again!
Overall, every single color is fabulous as the next. Even the oddball grew on me! The holos had excellent coverage along with most shades being two or three coaters.
Let's get down to business, shall we?
Oh my freakin' holo goodness! What more can I say? Wild at Heart is absolutely incredible. A gorgeous purple filled with a kaleidoscope of colors. Wow, just Wow! And to make things even better, I'm talking one coater here. The opaqueness is fabulous.
Love 'Em Leave 'Em is a gold holographic shade that also has good coverage.
Wild and Willing is a shade you'll have to see in person to appreciate. My swatches don't justify the intense sparkle and shine. It's a duochrome glitter that flashes gold, pink and copper.
Oh yes, what would fall be without a gorgeous green. Rule Breaker is a greenish blue shimmer that leans more towards the green family.
With Abandon is a black jelly with bronze-y, brown fine glitter. It's a little streaky when applied at first, like most jellies. But no worries, three coats will do the trick. The glitter is more noticeable with two coats: whereas, with three the black takes over.
Want to add some flair? Try topping Wild and Willing over With Abandon for that extra bling. Can you see the duochrome effect in the second picture? Love this!
As soon as I saw that On the Wild Side was a frosty charcoal metallic, my hopes were let down a bit. You see, me and metallics aren't too friendly these days. But all things put aside, I was instantly drawn into the shiny, steel look.
The Wild at Heart collection should be available within the next month or so. Stay tuned, I have more Color Club goodies to share with you guys.
Have a wonderful day!

Nail Art of the Day: Pink with Black Polka Dots
Good morning and Happy Tuesday! How was everyone's weekend? It's been super busy at Steph's Closet. In the next month or so, I plan on revamping the entire site for my lovely readers. So expect user friendly searches along with cool features and loads of new pictures in my Photo Gallery. Please bear with me in this long transition.
Let's move on to the next order of business, Nails! And today I'm bringing you my favorite nail art, cute lil' Polka Dots using my handy dotting tool! For this design I used Color Club's Vintage Couture nail polish and black acrylic paint for the dots.
Have you guys picked up a dotting tool from Sally's yet? Don't be intimidated, it's super easy I promise! You can even apply with your non dominant hand.
Check out one swatch below.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

Halloween: Color Club Master of Disguise
Collection: Color Club Master of Disguise, 4 minis per box, 0.25 oz. ea
Price: $5.95 and up
Steph's Rating:
Buy it: Head2Toe Beauty, VNS
Summer has officially kicked the bucket this season, and I couldn't be happier to celebrate Fall. Football, Sweatshirts & Long Pants, Bonfires - All things I love! And don't forget, Halloween!
Today let's start with a wickedly cool collection from Color Club called, Master of Disguise. In this new boxed set, you'll find four halloween mini polishes averaging .25 oz/ea. All colors applied fairy well not exceeding three coats.
Check out the swatches!
Abracadabra is a thin orange jelly with chunky round gold glitter that has a slight matte texture.
Abracadabra layered over black screams Halloween.
Taboo is absolutely gorgeous and one of my faves. It's a blue purple shimmer that's certainly pretty. Just a tad bit blue compared to her sister, Electronica.
Ghost of Chance is a opaque french white creme.
Witchy Woman or Master of Disguise, you pick? On the original press release both names are mentioned, but I'm going with Witchy Woman. It's more fitting. Described as a black creme that has the same satin/matte texture as Where's the Soiree.
All in All, great collection! Price is right and the small mini bottles are ideal for travel and everyday use. The only downfall, Abracadabra and Taboo aren't sold seperately.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

The Best of Halloween 2009: Nail Polish Exclusives
Happy Halloween, Ghost and Goblins! Are you guys ready for the big H tonight? Yesterday we celebrated with some friends at our house, and this evening I'm ready for some good ole Rest and Relaxation.
To ring in this ghoulish holiday, I'm bringing you some limited edition and/or exclusive nail colors that are floating around your local drugstore.
Let's start off with my favorite from the bunch, China Glaze. Check out all the Hallo-Spam below!
Spellbound Top Coat is a sparkly orange and silver glitter with small and medium round glitter. Even though this is meant for a topper, you can wear alone or over your favorite nail color. Personally I love this layered over any silver foil (pictured above).
Fortune Teller is a Sally Beauty exclusive that's nothing but fabulous. An opaque black loaded with orange round and hexagon shaped glitter.
Next we have some colors from Phantom Frights aka Blue Cross Beauty. You can find these at Rite Aid or Meijer stores in the Halloween section.
Black is a black creme.
Black Glitter is a black with silver glitter.
Black Glitter is a black with silver glitter mattified with China Glaze Matte Magic.
Green is a Neon Green.
Orange is a Neon Orange.
Pink is a Pink Neon.
Black Holographic is a smokey black with holographic glitter.
Teal is a blue green neon. Application and formula was streaky.
Confetti is a orange and black confetti glitter.
Besides Spellbound and Fortune Teller, Toxic is one my favorite Halloween exclusives this year. It's a gorgeous shimmery green. I've only seen Claw Polishes available at Meijer and Kroger's in my area.
Bloodshed is a red creme.
VooDoo is an exclusive from last year, a red glittery top coat.
Sinister is a black creme.
Walmart Green (no official name or brand) is a mini size blue green creme that's well worth a buck at Walmart.
Walmart Orange is another mini size exclusive from Walmart. Application and formula was finicky.
Black Magic is a Wet n Wild exclusive that's been around for a few years. A multi-colored, confetti glitter in a clear base. Great for layering.
Magical is a red, gold and silver glitter in a clear base. Another good one for layering.
Harvest Party is a multi-colored glitter franken I created using clear nail polish and Martha Stewart's Glitter.
And last but not least, my orange and black tiger striped mani. Originally, this was my Cincinnati Bengal's manicure a few weeks ago, but it's very Halloween-ish - Don't cha think?
For more Halloween coverage, check out Milani's Black Magic, Color Club's Master of Disguise, MAC's Style Black, and/or Icing's Black Glitter set. .
Do you guys have any Halloween plans? Hope you have a wonderful night, be safe!

Nubar Sparkles Collection for Spring
Product: Nubar Sparkles Collection, Nail Lacquer .5 oz
Retail Price: $49.95/kit or $7.49/ea
Steph's Rating:
Buy it: Online @ Nubar
Big 3 Free: Yes, Cruelty Free and Vegan!
Add some glitz and glamour to your wardrobe this season with the Sparkles Collection. The fine glitter texture provides full coverage in two to three coats, and available in eight dazzling colors.
After a record breaking week of that fluffy white powder, a fresh dose of Spring air is in order, wouldn't you agree? Nubar celebrates with another fun lovin' collection of eight colorful glitters.
As far as the formula, we have a couple different variations. Night Sparkle and Fire Sparkle are the only two colors in a "not so jelly" texture. It's more like a tinted satin and the glitter isn't as brilliant compared to the others, which are in a clear base.
Just a small disclaimer before we get started. All my swatches were taken indoors with a flash and artificial lighting. As soon as we get some sun here, I'll get better pictures.
Night Sparkle - is a deep blue glitter in a matching base. Since the base has a nice tint, Night Sparkle can easily be a two coater.
Oh man, Violet Sparkle is extremely pretty! It's a violet purple glitter in a clear base that flashes a bit of pink or magenta in certain lights. A must have!
Meadow Sparkle - is a light green glitter in a clear base.
Star Sparkle - is the only holographic based glitter from the Sparkles Collection. It's described as a silver glitter in a clear base. This would look fab layered over any nail color too.
Hyacinth Sparkle - is a lavender glitter in a clear base.
My swatches do absolutely nothing for Petunia Sparkle. It's a gorgeous magenta glitter in a clear base. This is another one of my faves up there with Violet Sparkle.
Sky Sparkle, sadly, is the only four coater from the group. It's a bright turquoise blue that resembles Massini or Color Club's Sexy Siren.
Fire Sparkle - is a vibrant and saucy red glitter in a matching tinted base just like Night Sparkle.
My favorites: Violet Sparkle, Petunia Sparkle, Star Sparkle and Night Sparkle.
Overall, A great collection for glitter lovers! Not exactly two coaters as they claim to be. On the average, most colors were opaque in three coats, which is still pretty good considering. If you can get past the stubborn removal, you'll love these!
Did you guys pick up any colors from the Sparkles Collection? What are some of your faves?
Full Disclosure: The following product(s) was provided to Steph's Closet by the Manufacturer or PR company for consideration.

Preview: Color Club Who Are You Wearing
Happy Saturday! How is everyone enjoying their weekend so far? This morning Mother Nature came knockin' at my door and left a load of white stuff we all love (ha, ha). . But I'm ready to move on to Spring, aren't you? So let's start with a preview from Color Club's newest collection called, Rebel Debutante.
Who Are You Wearing is one of nine new colors from Color Club this Spring. Hmm... How do we describe this one? A little bit of white, beige and lavender combined in a semi sheer, creme formula.
Since the formula was a bit sheer, I did have some application problems. The first two coats applied rather streaky, but I was able to even things out with the third. Nonetheless, I love the color and was determined to make this work. It pops with tan or darker skin tones!
Check out a comparison below.
Who Are You Wearing falls somewhere between Light Affair and Lavender Cloud. Not as beige as MAC's and not as stark as Sally's.
Having some polka dot fun with the collection colors!
What do you guys think of Who Are You Wearing? Stay tuned, I'll be posting the reminder of Rebel Debutante in a couple days!
